Euthanasia & Copy Cat Syndrome

Think this is not a uncommon topic to each of you guys. C'mon, how many times in the past 3 months have you read that somebody has drown in Bedok Reservoir?

First time you see it, you go "OMG"
Second time, you go "OMG OMG, AGAIN???"
Third time, you go " (-_-)"... whatever lah..."
Anymore than that, i guess we will all go "Lets have a bet. $10, when is the next case"

Now, lets see this and determine if it suits into the reason why they chose to commit suicide.

COPY CAT SYNDROME : Some psychiatrists say these are emotionally immature people who find an excuse to vent their latent hostile emotions when a ''leader'' like the Tylenol killer shows them the way. Dr. Richard Galston, a Harvard Medical School psychiatrist, says the copycat criminals may have weak ego structures and ''have difficulty running their lives.'' Although little is known about this mental aberration, many experts believe that the original crimes may have touched off latent emotions such as fear or anger in the ''copycats.'' Dr. Robert Howell, a psychologist at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, and president of the American Board of Forensic Psychologists, thinks that the original Tylenol crime was probably committed by a person who was bitter about something. Copycat criminals, though they might be bitter, could also have been seeking fame and attention, he said. (quoted from : http://www.nytimes.com/1982/10/30/us/experts-theorize-about-copycat-syndrome.html)

But, have anybody thought this is actually a case of Euthanasia ?
Allow me to define : Euthanasia (from the greek meaning "good death": (well or good) , thanatos (death) refers to the practice of intentionally ending a life in order to relieve pain and suffering.

This is a.k.a Committing Suicide.

If that is the case, should Euthanasia be legalised?
Answer is "Hell Nooooo...." We do not want any additional vitamins in the reservoir. Moreover, some ppl are fighting for their life, yet these ppl ended it when they are well and very much alive. Do they realise, when they die, they go through only 1min suffering, but their parents and loved ones go through a decade of suffering. When they think of you, they cry. Now, does that make you a man?

Go figure....

After Work...

Anyway, today was some lousy day.... Things were going downhill at work. Allow me to emphasize.
Picture this : Your boss's boss tells you to cancel a certain plan, calls you to report to camp straight away, then asks you to present the "Certain plan" that he cancelled. When you cant, he scolds the dogcrap out of you. Luckily my wife was there to cheer me up....

Thank you my wife.

Now, Mr boss's boss, Gimme a chance and I will smash you like this...

CSR

Today's topic was about CSR.

What is CSR?

- CSR a.k.a Corporate social responsibility is a form of corporate self-regulation integrated into a business model.
In other words, It’s how a company gives back to the society, mostly ethical. Corporate Social Responsibility is essentially about businesses doing well and doing good at the same time. CSR is about the long term strategy of aligning business strategy and operations with universal values to achieve positive and sustainable outcomes for customers, suppliers, employees, shareholders, communities, other stakeholders and as well as the environment.

Some examples of CSR are safe working conditions for employees, environmental stewardship, and contributions to

Community groups and charities. The problem is that many companies that claim to be socially responsible

often do not live up to such a standard. Because CSR is becoming more commonplace among corporations, there

are concerns that some companies promote an image of CSR whether or not they have a true strategy in place and

the results to show for. Accountability and transparency are key to conducting business in a responsible manner.

Examples of CSR practiced in Singapore:

In 2008, survey findings by the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) show that out of the 507 Singapore-based enterprises surveyed, 40% of the respondents were aware of the term CSR. Of the CSR-aware respondents, two-thirds have implemented CSR activities.
To date, 240 organisations have joined Singapore Compact and are implementing CSR practices. These organisations include large corporations, SMEs, co-operatives, unions, federations and NGOs. In addition, 70 companies have signed up as signatories to the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) network in Singapore. Examples Of CSR practiced in Organisations :

SAF holds an annual Singapore Bay Run – ARMY Half Marathon (SBR – AHM). In this event, whatever fundings SAF has collected will be given to Charitable organization to help the needy.

Difference Between Gender Communication

Topic for today is "Difference Between Gender Communication."
Take a look at this :

From childhood, boys and girls learn to interact with one another in different ways. This learning essentially begins in the playground. Girls' talk as a way to establish and sustain a close relationship with their peers, whereas boys' use it to affirm a position of power. Girls' learn to criticize each other tactfully as not to intentionally hurt the feelings of others and also to accurately interpret the speech of their peers. Boys' use speech to attract and maintain an audience and also to confirm their status when others are speaking. These are the main ways in which girls' and boys' learn to use speech.
 (quoted from http://www.writework.com/essay/gender-and-communication-miscommunication-between-men-and#.TrFCv3KZiuI)

Anyways
One group earlier said : "Women usually want empathy when they communicate with men."
Another said : "Women are better listeners and men are better presenters."

My comment : "Hah! This is horse apples!!! (Go decipher). Look at the picture below for concrete evidence to my statement"

Enough of serious issues. Now for entertainment sake in relation to the above mentioned topic, click on the link below. True story. Enjoy! (psst, it is a XXX link)
